Sample Videos

The videos below showcase a variety of work for tech companies. We specialize in concise, straightforward and compelling SaaS software demo videos that build trust. We can also help bring your product to life with other types of videos like customer stories and vision videos. Which of the following sample video types might work well for you?

Our "Hybrid" Approach

Our strategic Seven-Step Approach has been honed over many years. Compared to outsourcing to a creative agency where your staff does a ton of work up-front in order to hand-off the project to talented, but non-technical types that may require a lot of handholding, STONE VIDEO guides you from the start, making the whole process pain free and fast. In the end, you’ll communicate the value of your offering more effectively to your customers.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does "in-house" mean in terms of the production process?

Working with STONE VIDEO is like having a unicorn of a video specialist on your team that has technical storytelling expertise, has delivered hundreds of live demos, crushed their number and has scrappy (yet polished) video production skills covering everything from scripting to distribution. And you only have to pay them a fraction of what a full-time employee or traditional creative agency would require. Please contact us to learn more.

What is “The Recipe” video we need to create for new projects?

"Begin with the end in mind" is an incredibly wise mantra. We just need to see a rough, unpolished version of the demo you're envisioning to turn into a video, as if you were practicing for an upcoming customer presentation. Mistakes, stumbles, bad audio, dog barking outside, and other issues are all completely fine for this purpose. This gives us a solid idea of the end goal and we can use it to sync and formulate a plan of attack.

In the case of vision videos, we may go the route of slides to nail down the flow, key takeaways, the assets (content) available and needing to be created.

What constitutes a "request" in the video production process?

Creating a video involves a series of steps. Creating a script, screen recordings, creating animations, etc. As we work with you to create a video, each step will have one or more requests involved. We'll work closely with you and guide you through each step (i.e., request). "Create a script from our recipe video" would be one step/request. We would draft the script, you would then make or approve edits, and then we'd finalize it. "Create a video" is not a request is this regard, it is a project.

What type of demo environment do we need to have in order to work with you?
  1. Although there is no strict requirement, the type of demo environment you have will affect the time involved to create each video. We can likely work with whatever means you have to show your solution to your customers.

On one end of the spectrum would be a demo environment you can quickly customize for each customer and use case in a matter of minutes. You may have developed such a tool in-house or perhaps you use a third-party solution like Saleo. If necessary, we can also help you build demo videos that use significant “smoke and mirrors” to demonstrate what is possible (i.e., customizing or creating non-existent features through Photoshop and animation tools).

See examples in the Sample Videos section above.

How long does it take from start to finish to produce a demo video?

Typically one to two weeks for product demo videos. A lot depends on the state of your demo environment, the need for "smoke and mirrors," and the ability of your team to respond to our requests. We highly recommend assigning a project manager to serve as a single point of contact. Our hybrid approach and SaaS expertise makes video production a much shorter, less painful process in comparison to working with a traditional creative agency.

Which is more effective — a longer, in-depth video or a shorter one?

Focused, shorter videos will retain eyeballs and likely result in a higher ROI than longer ones. Viewers’ attention spans are short, so “micro demos” are a proven strategy. Plus, you can create shorter videos much faster and iterate (update) more frequently. You can also create custom playlists to send multiple short videos together.

Longer presentations are better suited for webinars where the attendees can ask questions via a coworker monitoring chat. Unfortunately, people often sign-up for webinars and then choose to not attend, thinking they’ll just watch the recording later. Webinar or meeting recordings can be painful to watch and generally less effective than purpose-built videos. If you leverage webinar/meeting recordings for customers or internal purposes, we can help you make them much more consumable and have a longer shelf life.

Do you help companies create marketing videos for top of the funnel?

We focus on scalable, MOFU (middle of the funnel) demo videos. They are in the bullseye of our wheelhouse because they can be used as templates to create versions for different industries and use cases. We can definitely help with more "one-off" product videos, but if you’re looking for videos that are more top of the funnel (i.e., they don’t show a lot of your product and utilize extensive motion graphics) there are other companies that specialize in these types of videos.

How are screen captures and recordings of our product handled?

We need high-resolution screen recordings and image captures so we maintain crystal clear visuals when zooming in. Captures done on an external display that is at least 4k resolution (3840px by 2160px) with a 16:9 aspect ratio is the best practice. A laptop with a high resolution display can be used, however, a portion will need to be cropped off because laptop displays are 16:10 and thus too “tall.” Some SaaS applications like Salesforce have a persistent bottom toolbar that one would want in videos. In those cases capturing on a 16:9 display is crucial.

What video hosting platform do you recommend?

Vidyard is the hosting platform we use and recommend. Vidyard makes it easy for sales reps and other team members to send videos and track not only the number of views, but who watched and for how long (seconds and percentage). Videos hosted on the Vidyard platform are presented via a professional, branded web page and custom playlists of multiple videos can easily be created and sent. Vidyard can be integrated into Salesforce and other CRMs with video views triggering automations.

What kind of audio equipment do we need?

While STONE VIDEO can provide recorded voiceovers for your videos, ideally you want one or more people on your team to record voiceovers for maximum authenticity. We can recommend USB microphones in the $100-200 range, reference headphones like the Sony MDR series (under $100), free audio recording software (Audacity), and advise on how to reduce echoes in your recording space.
